I’m looking for the word that can replace the phrase “something that doesn’t belong,” not contrast, displace/misplace or antithesis.

I learned this word in tenth grade English class when I tried to describe some like a 1920’s scene with a 2007 automobile or a flaming homosexual African American male at a KKK meeting.

I learned it the same day I learned onomatopoeia, so I’m forever mixing them up.

One of my teachers talks about how he loves to do acupuncture on animals because "animals can't lie."

My big dog, Subuki, lets me do what ever to her. I've put stitches in that dog with only a little local, so I can needle her all I want. The little one, Stella, she's a whole 'nother story. So I chose yintang. An extra point that's supposed to be very calming and soothing.

Perfect for the little shit.

I thought I missed the point because she moved around so much but she totally relaxed after having it in her for a few min, she even yawned. Maybe its a bigger point on her than it is on humans. I know there are a few points on people that can be the size of a nickel, Hegu LI-4 being one of them.

She's now crashed out on the floor at the foot of my bed and hasn't stirred for the last 10 min, a rather unusual way to experience a dog generally referred to as "freakazoid."

I did some head shots of the acupuncturists that I volunteer for, they needed images for their website. The two of them couldn't be more opposite which made getting a good shot of both of them nearly impossible. I did, however get one great shot...but it was so hot that day all you could see was their sweat. Did I mention I was using someone else's camera as well? Yeah, Lisa's 30D....mmmmmmmmmm.

So off to Corel I went. I have to say, I'm almost proud of myself.

This took freaking FOREVER. I did it all by hand, which is the only way to make it look right. No filter was used. Uber thanks to my hubby for teaching me about the cloning tool.

Most of my photography sucked yesterday even though firdarrig was kind enough to teach me an assload about my camera (thank you, if I didn't say it before). So far, out of almost 400 images (mostly because I used continuous shoot mode when trying to capture the roman candle wars) this was my favourite

Someone I knew a long time ago told me to find him on mywhore. So I did. He asked me for some pictures of him, cause you know what a picture whore I am, and I found these:

I took this on my 2 mpx Nikon Coolpix when I first moved to Boston. Its the Trinity Church in front of the Ben Franklin. At the right angles, you can see the Trinity reflected in the Ben Franklin all over town. Currently, the city of Boston is trying to keep it from sinking.

I decided to post them to my mywhore. Don't ask me why.

Its come to my attention that I am so anal about composition that I even agonize over the perfect placement of my tag. Is it subtle enough that people notice the photo and not my tag? Does it off set the composition of the photograph? Does it make the picture uncomfortable to look at? I actually spent almost 15 min on one pic, bothered by the way putting a tag anywhere on the image made it feel off. In the end I gave up and put it where I usually default to.

At any rate, this was an interesting experiment. I found out that I loathe auto printing places. It seems all the images they run through have an auto contrast adjustment and it RUINED the images that I purposely underexposed for shadows. I also loved how every image on the effing disk came out looking as though they printed them with the negative upside down. Granted, I got the images processed and then put on disk instead of film this time so it wasn't too much trouble to flip them all around, but I paid money for this service, I'd like it done correctly.

However, there were several shots I set up for perfect composition, metered for light and turned out to be so-so shots. The ones I messed up ended up being WAY more fun:

This one was all shaky and out of focus because I used the 200mm lens without a tripod, but after a little tweaking-using the same technique I did on my father's cart-I got this and ended up muuuuuch happier with it.

End of roll and beginning of roll shots. I've seen people actually purposely do this in PS and strangely enough, I really liked them. I'm especially fond of the negative hole in the first, yet another reason I'm so fond of WG's FINE developing service. But again, it adds something to the pic that I wouldn't have otherwise and I really have grown fond of it. I'm thinking of framing the two of these in a series for my wall.

I kept trying to take pictures without the damn fence line in them and I actually ended up liking the one with the fence in the pic the best. It almost has a voyeuristic effect.

I kept trying to get the glare out of the picture but really, the one with glare turned out best.

Did a lot of these to make it a full series, its really neat but I've spent the last hour and a half messing with photobucket and I give up. Stupid slide show feature keeps pixelating my images and making my photography look like poo. And really it doesn't need the help.

Needless to say, we had quite a few of these visitors this week due to Colorado's new "monsoon season." Later that evening, our backyard was flooded with somewhere around 50 of them. (and I have a SMALL backyard)
